• You select your vehicle from Japan and therefore, you know the exact condition and mileage of the vehicle. Select an accident free original odometer topping condition vehicle. Condition, mileage and accident history of those vehicles are certified by auction houses.
• When a vehicle is imported by a dealer, they have to pay VAT on sold price. You save this VAT and dealer profit by importing the car on your name.

How to import used vehicles to Sri Lanka

•  our partner in Japan will provide proforma invoice which you have to take to your bank to establish a letter of credit. The letter of credit has be established before the vehicle is shipped from Japan. You just have to fill the application according to the proforma invoice.
• Our partner will then ship the vehicle and will hand over the documents to their negotiation bank.
• Once the documents have arrived, your bank will hand over those to you.
• Once the ship has arrived in Colombo port, our clearing agent will prepare necessary documentation. Here, you will have to prepare a bank draft to pay the duty and taxes to the customs.
• Once duty and taxes have been paid, within few days you will have to receive the vehicle at customs gate.
• Get the vehicle registered and drive safely.

• Your will have to have the full amount of cost of importing the vehicle beforehand because leasing companies will not provide until the vehicle is cleared from customs and registered.

• The duty, levies and taxes has been calculated with exchange rate Rs 1.30 per yen. You may calculate the current figures with current exchange rate.

ONLINE PURCHASING VEHICLES

In recent years, most auction houses went online at one time or another, allowing their members to preview and purchase cars over the internet. Japan is a country where travel can be costly and where a large variety of climates and terrains coexist. One result of online auction generalization was to reduce the need for physical travel and to somewhat erase price variations between different areas of Japan.
     Access to an ever increasing amount of automotive data, resulting in additional supply and variety, reduced the need for heavy overheads and proved a major bonus to Japanese traders and their overseas buyers.

NATIONWIDE PORTAL

    Due however to the large number of auction organizations joining the online scene, a situation gradually developed where an ever increasing number of internet auction memberships and multiple site monitoring became necessary to keep watch on the market trends & supply. This confusing situation was calling for unification, which came in the form of Auto Server Net.     In addition to vehicles sold via the traditional bidding system, about 5000 “pre-auction” cars per week, are offered at a determined fixed price which need not be negotiated. Viewing and bidding can be done 7 days a week.

PURCHASING TIPS
     The main rule when purchasing from auction is probably to remember that you cannot bid against yourself. When a good match is found, allow a generous purchase bid to avoid missing the perfect car by a few pennies. Because you cannot bid against yourself, you will obtain the car with just the necessary amount, which is 10000 yen above the next best offer.
   Please remember, you can only change your mind BEFORE a purchase. Cancellation of a successful purchase is not an option, and because most claims for damage or refunds will prove impossible or highly frustrating to entertain, it is always advised to go after the best possible cars.
   If you can imagine more than 60,000 cars being sold in an average week in all the auctions across Japan, this gives you some idea of the scale, and how little time there is to act. Thusands of vehicles are parked in giant car parks around the auction building and sometimes car parks near the auction are used to which a bus service periodically runs to take the buyers out to inspect the vehicles. The Japan Auto Appraisal Institute (JAAI) was established in 1966 under the approval of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Transport. The institute is a fair and neutral public corporation.

JAAI is an organization with a network of 52 branches covering all 47 prefectures in Japan, and is the only organization in Japan to conduct export inspections of used cars. Its organizational ability and fairness have been highly evaluated, and since 1967, the Japanese government has authorized JAAI as the quality inspection agency for second-hand Japanese cars exported overseas.

 

Prior to the Japanese government's abolishment of the export inspection system for used vehicles in 1995 as part of the governmental deregulation, JAAI had conducted 1.8 million vehicle inspections over a period of 30 years.

Based on its inspection record, the accuracy of JAAI's export inspections has gained the recognition of foreign countries. Over the three-year period since the abolishment of the export inspection system in Japan, JAAI has inspected approximately 250,000 vehicles exported to more than 50 countries. Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritius, Sri Lanka government requires JAAI inspection for the vehicles to be imported to the countries. Inspection will be arranged before shipment. This may take up to 10 days depending on how busy the inspectors are. Booking of your vehicle for shipment will be arranged once the JAAI inspection completed. Please pay the JAAI Inspection fee of US$200 at the same time of payment for your vehicle. Without JAAI certificate, consignees will be required to pay 30% penalty of the CIF value.                                        Major inspection details                         JAAI inspections centered on function and appearance      1.    Accurate inspection using the latest inspection equipment, including test equipment for the speedometer, brakes, wheel alignment, and emission gas, is essential to ensure vehicle driving safety. JAAI gives passing grades to those vehicles for which the basic safety functions of "driving, cornering, and stopping" have been approved.    2.      The interior and exterior of vehicles are thoroughly inspected during the appearance inspection. In particular, vehicle chassis are confirmed by inspectors who actually go underneath the vehicles. As a result, even hidden traces of accidents can be found.   3.     Inspectors are specially selected among JAAI employees; they are fully trained and educated, and are required to pass strict testing.
